Introducing CSSSA Film visiting artist, @ava_cahen! 👋 Ava Cahen has been the Artistic Director of La Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival since the 61st edition (2022). In 2017, she co-founded the website frenchmania.fr, dedicated to French and Francophone cinema, and is still its co-chief editor. She has been a commentator on Canal+’s Le Cercle since 2014, and she regularly takes part in Le Masque et la Plume programs on France Inter. She has published several books on cinema and series (Nos premiers films, Woody Allen, profession cynique, Cheforama, la gastronomie au cinéma, FrenchMania la revue, Game of Thrones, décodé). We are thrilled to announce the new Executive Director of the CSSSA Foundation, Jeremy Deming. Jeremy has devoted over 25 years to the nonprofit sector, serving in leadership roles at nonprofit organizations nationwide and receiving numerous awards for his work. He has built a reputation as a compassionate and dedicated leader, consistently focused on improving quality and achieving better outcomes. Most recently, Jeremy served as the CEO of Switzer Learning Center in Torrance, California. We are excited to see the changes his leadership will bring. Introducing @csssa_schoolforthearts Architecture & Environmental Design visiting artist, Matthew Teutimez! 👋 Matt Teutimez is a Tribal Biologist, educator, and member of the Gabrieleño Band of Mission Indians – Kizh Nation. He is the founder of LINKS (Laboratory for Indigenous Knowledge Systems), an organization focused on Indigenous ecology, land stewardship, conservation, and environmental education. Blending traditional ecological knowledge with contemporary science, Matt’s work explores regenerative approaches to restoration, biodiversity, cultural landscapes, and climate resilience. Introducing CSSSA Writing visiting artist, Lina Patel! 👋 Lina Patel is a writer, performer, and director based in Los Angeles. Her work explores disability, non-traditional relationships, and power in an unstable world. On television, Lina has worked as Co-Producer on Ava DuVernay's Cherish the Day, Executive Story Editor on Krypton (Warner Bros./DC), and Staff Writer on The 100 and Frequency. She is currently writing her first graphic novel with collaborator Aaron Simpson and illustrator E.J. Su. She wrote, directed, and produced her debut short film, Cabin Time, a 2025 Screenplay Finalist at the Mallorca International Film Festival. Selected theatre work includes her dark comedy, "Bonobos" (Flint Repertory; dir. Bernardo Cubría); her rom-com, Traces of Desire, commissioned by UCLA/Playwrights' Arena, published by Bloomsbury UK (Jane Chambers Prize Honorable Mention; dir. His latest album, Songs for Agreement made with Vulfpeck's Theo Katzman, was released in March of this year, and his touring work with Kacey Musgraves continues over the next year playing guitar and singing harmony. He is a 2003 Music Center Spotlight Award recipient, 2004 Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and 2005 Princess Grace Award/Chris Hellman Dance Honor recipient. His performance credits include the American tour of Riverdance; Imagine Tap!; À la Recherche de Joséphine; and his broadway debut in Shuffle Along.
